It’s in the details (reading time: 4 min.)

Upbeat and service-oriented are the vibes you get from Elijah Pedone, owner of A Brilliant Finish Mobile Detailing (ABF). Pedone, who is also a drummer, understands that in small business ownership, just as in music, it is essential to be in rhythm. Launched in 2006, ABF reverberates Pedone’s goals of quality service, successful marketing, and well-trained employees. A Brilliant Finish is a fully self-contained (the water and electricity sources are in their vans) mobile detailing service.

Pedone started ABF with a loan from his mother, a truck from his father and his relentless drive to build a business. With an eye for detail, he paid attention to the practices of successful larger businesses, such as consistently providing an exceptional product. He also applied his own extensive customer service experience as a music store merchandiser and a music teacher.

Although Pedone's detailing experience dates back to 1988, it was years later when he helped a friend with a detailing job that he was inspired to start ABF. He loves the “immediate sense of accomplishment” which comes from “making something that looked bad, look great.” Pedone’s personal guarantee goes into every job. Each job is regarded as special, but ABF’s most unique and challenging was polishing EPCOT’s 3-story Mission to Mars. However, ABF's primary focus is boat and automobile mobile detailing in the Central Florida area.

Through social media marketing and word-of-mouth referrals, Pedone has built “his child.” His first marketing strategy was simple: he left business cards on the coffee table for parents to see when they picked up their children from music lessons. Sixteen years later, Pedone is in tune with the advantages of social media, which he describes as “billboards along the internet highway.” Pedone capitalizes on the massive reach that no-cost social media offers. He posts ABF celebrations on Facebook, Instagram and is even leading the way with using Tik Tok, a video-sharing social media service, for connecting with his customers.

Pedone loves the hands-on aspect of detailing. But as small business owners understand, he can’t do it all, which is why he makes sure each of his six employees reflects ABF’s mission of “providing the highest level of mobile detailing service.” Pedone “values his employees” and realizes “each employee represents a family,” which is all the more reason he places a high priority on their development and relationships.

DRUM ROLL PLEASE!  When you meet Elijah Pedone, you quickly realize he has poured his passion into A Brilliant Finish Mobile Detailing. He will tell you “I’m going to make sure I get it right.”
